The Nokia 5210 was announced at a Mobile Internet Conference hosted by Nokia in Barcelona, Spain in 2001.
It was the first phone in Nokia’s new active mobile phone category, specifically designed for people with active lifestyles. It saw using Nokia using new materials and a removable Xpress-on rubber shell design designed to help make the phone more rugged.
The phone had built-in infrared support allowing data transfer to other compatible devices. It also featured an integrated thermometer and digital clock. There were a number of games pre-loaded including Snake II, Space Impact, Bantumi, Pairs II and Bumper.
Although announced in 2001, it did not start shipping until the first quarter of 2002.
