When it was announced, Nokia described the 5220 XpressMusic as “edgy with a unique design" offering "music for the masses".
It had a unique, asymmetrical design and featured a built-in lanyard loop making it easy for owners to carry the device. The phone had dedicated XpressMusic keys on its side and a 3.5mm audio jack. It could deliver up to 24 hours of playback time.
When it was launched it had a retail price of €160.
