Features

This device, which was also known as the HTC STRTrk (a derivative of its code name: Star Trek) was HTC’s first clamshell phone with an OLED display. It used the Windows Mobile 5.0 for smartphones operating system. It had a vague resemblance to a Star Trek communicator but it was not particularly obvious. It featured an aluminium laser-cut keypad similar to the Motorola Razr V3. A key feature of the Qtek 8500 was its music player, which it was possible to control without opening the phone by using the media player controls on its fascia. It also had a reasonably good speaker to listen to music. Despite its striking design it was a troublesome phone with the external display regularly failing on the device.
