The Nokia Asha 309 (Type: RM-843) was announced at the same time as its dual-SIM variant, the Asha 308, at an event in Jakarta, Indonesia. Both phones were an addition to the Asha Touch range of products.
Nokia described the Nokia Asha 308 and Nokia Asha 309 as being “designed for people who wanted a great smartphone experience with lower running costs” which were designed to expand Nokia’s affordable smartphone line-up. When it launched, it was Nokia's most affordable capacitive touchscreen device.
The phone was bundled with 40 premium EA games, Facebook and Twitter clients, the Nokia Messaging Service, and video streaming through the Nokia browser from sites like YouTube – which was a first for the Asha Touch range.
At launch, it had an estimated retail price for the Nokia Asha 308 and Nokia Asha 309 was approximately $US99.
