The Panasonic G1 (model number EB-2803) was one of the first GSM transportable phones, and the first for the Japansese consumer electronics maker.
It used a full-size SIM card (the same size as a credit card) which slotted into the top of the handset.
The phone was unique, as unlike some previous early GSM phones, it was designed as a A car phone that a customer could take with them. The transceiver unit could be unplugged a battery could be connected to make it a portable unit.
