GSM Test Phone

This prototype phone was made by LG to develop and trial its GSM software stack on UK's Cellnet network. It included the SMS (Short Message Service) layer which was written by Dr. Val Lynch. She also wrote the Cell Broadcast layer on the device. It is thought to be the phone that was used to send the first mobile-originated text message on the Cellnet GSM network. The phone was never released commercially but the software stack was used on multiple phones during that period.
