The A1403 was manufactured by Kyocera for Japanese network operator KDDI. It was designed by Ichiro Iwasaki. When it was launched it was touted as being a “friendly oval form which is comfortable to hold”.
The phone had a relatively basic set of features, but did support apps using Qualcomm’s BREW platform. It provided basic text-to-speech capabilities that enabled the phone to announce a caller’s name when a call was received.
