On the face of it the KP8400 looked like an ordinary clamshell phone with a long life battery.
However, the phone had a glucometer built into the oversized battery where a user could insert a testing strip to get insulin and blood readings which were displayed on the phone’s screen.
Users could also upload their results to an online database which could be accessed by clinicians.
Other features of the phone were a 262k colour TT display, a basic camera, and polyphonic ringtones.
