The Milestone 2 was a device with strong similarities to the Motorola Droid 2 (for the US carrier Verizon). This Android-powered qwerty smartphone was enhanced by Motorola's MotoBlur user interface and the Blur brand featured on the back of the device. Motorola stated that MotoBlur made it "easier to manage all of your emails, messages and social updates in one easy place with the additions of filtering, resizable widgets, added corporate security and a versatile battery manager."
Motorola promoted the device emphasising its 1GHz processor and an improved qwerty keyboard with larger keys compared to the original
Motorola Milestone.
Alain Mutricy, senior vice president, portfolio and device product management at Motorola Mobility noted that the device "reaffirms our commitment to innovate on Android but offers consumers the leading edge features they crave including fast web browsing, messaging, application downloads and multimedia."
A key difference from the Droid 2 was the support of 720p video recording and playback.
The device in the Mobile Phone Museum collection is a prototype version of the Milestone 2, a follow-up device to the Motorola Milestone.
