The Motorola Personal Hand Portable Phone provided very basic features and the ability to store just 10 telephone numbers.
It was notable for not having a screen. This meant that signal strength and battery life were indicated by a series of audible bleeps.
One version of this phone, which was offered in the UK, was powered by six AA batteries and marketed by the Automobile Association (a vehicle breakdown rescue service) in conjunction with a subscription to the Vodafone network.
