The Nokia NM201 (model name: NHJ-7LX), which was offered by Japanese network operator NTT DoCoMo, was originally meant to be a sister product to the
Nokia 8110 which was famous for its appearance in The Matrix movie. Unfortunately, it bore little resemblance to the iconic 8110 and turned into this rather ugly looking phone finished in a military green colour.
It was not particularly successful, but was notable for being the first Nokia phone to use 3V electronics which paved way for improved battery life on future GSM products.
At the time, Nokia did not use codenames and the phone was given a project name of HD823.
