When it was launched, the 5700 XpressMusic was described as “adding a new twist to mobile music”. A music-centric device, powered by the Symbian operating system with the S60 user interface, the 5700 was an evolution of the
Nokia 3250 with a rotating base that switched between phone, camera and music modes.
The phone had a "dedicated audio chip" offering an “enhanced music performance” as well as support for digital rights management (DRM) so that tracks bought from popular online music stores at the time could be used. The music player app on the Nokia 5700 supported album art, playlists, a 5-band equalizer and “audio visualizations”.
It also had integrated stereo speakers, Bluetooth support and a 3.5-mm jack for headphones. Users could add MicroSD cards with a capacity of up to 2GB which allowed them to have up to 1500 music tracks with them.
At launch, it had an estimated price of €350.
