Features

The Nokia 8, also known as model number: TA-1012, was the first flagship smartphone announced by HMD Global eight months after the company was created to revive the legendary Nolia moible phone brand. It was regarded as being hugely important in getting Nokia-branded smartphones back on the mobile phone map. The phone offered a few new tricks to help it stand out from the crowd. The first was what HMD Global called “pure Android” — a vanilla version of Android like the one offered by Google on its own-brand devices such as the Pixel smartphone. The second was called Dual-Sight: simultaneous video recording and streaming from its front and rear 13-megapixel cameras which the company referred to as a "Bothie" (a variant of the well known term, Selfie). And the third major feature used technology from Nokia’s 360-degree camera division, Ozo, to support spatial surround sound recording. Live Dual-Sight videos could be shared directly to Facebook and YouTube from the camera app. The Nokia 8 was the first HMD Global device to feature Zeiss optics. The Mobile Phone Museum collection owns both a silver and blue variant of this device.
