The Nokia E51 was a refresh of the
Nokia E50 and was the slimmest and lightest HSDPA and Wi-Fi Series 60 device produced to that point. It also included a 2MP camera. Nokia had been evolving its Eseries portfolio to include multiple radio support (cellular and WLAN) and 3G as standard features. It also supported multiple email solutions including email support via Microsoft Exchange and Intellisync.
From a user experience perspective, the E51 included single button, one touch access to key functions including the calendar, address book, email and the home screen.
The E51 featured a stainless-steel casing that provided a high-quality finish that was also integral to the structural design and durability of the device. It also featured a range of consumer centric applications and functions which received more focus in promotional materials compared to previous Eseries devices. There were specific references to the availability of the Gizmo VoIP application, Windows Live services, Yahoo! Go and
Widsets which allowed widgets.
