The Philips PR60 was made in Denmark by Dancall.
In the promotional material used to market the phone it was described as being "too powerful for the competition". At the time it was the only UK 'portable' mobile phone with a Class 3 rating which meant it supported 1.2 watts of 'nominal transmission' which Philips claimed meant that a call on the PR60 would "get through when others failed to connect."
Despite its bulky design, at the time it was considered a "lightweight" product that "slipped comfortably into an inside pocket."
The phone has a 90-number alpha-numeric memory and was able to record the last 10 calls made to make it easy to redial recently used numbers.
Philips boasted that "with a PR 60 the caller's in business every time they make a call" and that it was a case of "more power to your elbow from Philips".
