Features

The S230 was a mobile phone manufactured by Sendo for UK mobile virtual network operator Virgin Mobile. It was targeted at the youth market. Its most notable feature was the ability for people who owned the phone to play games against each other wirelessly. The S230 had built-in interactive games including chess, checkers (draughts), reversi and a two-player fighting game, Kombat Club. Players competed by sending their moves to each other as text messages. This was an excellent concept, but potentially extremely expensive for the user given each text message cost 10p (15 cents) – for example, a chess game comprising forty moves could cost £8 ($10).
