Features

The XOR Titanium Rose is a luxury mobile phone designed and hand built in England. It was the first device in XOR’s premium feature handset collection. Primarily designed as a talk and text phone, it also had a strong focus on privacy and security, reflecting the needs of its users, typically high-net-worth individuals who appreciate and can afford, luxury goods. The company ascribes to a design philosophy known as “organic geometry” and the sweeping curves on the side of the device reflect this, with designer Hutch Hutchison (who was a key member of the Vertu design team) describing them as being like ripples in a swimming pool, in particular the crests and the way they weave together. There is also purpose to this design with “the concave form making a natural home for the thumb and index finger when holding the phone, guiding them to the protected keys”. The Titanium Rose featured hardware encryption to protect calls and messages, an air quality sensor to alert users to potential harm and a battery life which the company described as being “measured in days not hours”. There was also a deliberate decision not to incorporate GPS technology to protect owner privacy. The phone used premium materials including Sapphire Crystal for the screen making it virtually scratch-resistant, Ceramic for the earpiece and mouthpiece and French leather on the back of the phone. The unique ringtone was created by British multi-award-winning recording artist, composer and producer Mark Sayfritz. An additional feature of the phone was the luxury box that it shipped in – which is similar to the packaging used for Swiss watches and high-end jewellery. The added twist to the XOR packaging was its “puzzle box” requiring owners to know how to use a special technique to open the box. The phone had a starting price of £3000 when it was launched.
