When launched, the JCB Tradesman (model number: TP121) was claimed to be the world's first floating phone.  Initially, the phone was targeted at users on building sites or in outdoor trades but it was eventually marketed beyond those in tough working conditions to also focus on people who enjoyed an outdoor lifestyle participating in activities such as mountain climbing, skiing and sailing. The phone was certified to IP67 dust and water resistance standards. It included an FM Radio and built-in torch and had a standby time of 130 hours. At launch, the phone cost £70 ($US90).
