V601N

The V601N was manufactured by NEC and sold by Vodafone Japan. It was the first PDC mobile phone available in Japan featuring a built-in terrestrial analogue TV tuner. Vodafone claimed it was possible to watch TV for 60 minutes, but in reality, the phone would become very hot after about 30 minutes and the battery would rapidly lose charge. The phone was offered in three colours: white, black and red (which is the variant in the Mobile Phone Museum collection).
