This Vodafone-specific variant of HP’s iPAQ Voice Messenger phone was made available with Vodafone UK initially and then offered in further European countries. It was announced at the same time as the Vodafone variant of the iPAQ Data Messenger.
The HP (Vodafone) iPAQ Voice Messenger was a 3G smartphone with an integrated 20-key keypad which was powered by Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.1.
HP was delighted with the deal stating at the launch that HP was “taking mobile computing beyond borders and boundaries to something truly global as a result of the relationship with Vodafone”.
The device featured a five-way optical navigation button that provided “a ‘gliding’ sensation when scrolling through menus and intelligent predictive text capabilities that learnt a user’s vocabulary and style from messages and emails for progressively faster and easier message composition.”
