The Vodafone Webbox was a connected 2.5G and EDGE device which offered Internet access via a customer’s existing television set.
It was developed specifically for customers in emerging markets, where technology and cost barriers made it harder to get Internet access at home or in the workplace. It used standard RCA connectors to plug into the television and required no set-up other than being plugged into the TV.
The core services offered on the Webbox were Internet access via an Opera Mini browser, SMS and email messaging, an FM radio, a photo gallery and a music player.940
