The BlackBerry 8700c was part of the “Electron” family of BlackBerry devices. It was offered by US wireless carrier, Cingular. It was the first BlackBerry to run on EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution) networks. At the launch, RIM (BlackBerry) Co-Chief Executive Jim Balsillie described the device as “a quantum leap forward in the performance for the user both in voice and in data."
