The EH 237 was a watershed design for Ericsson and became the platform many future Ericsson products were based on. The product was designed by Richard Linhahl who worked in Ericsson’s design team based in Malmo, Sweden. It was known as the “Jane” design, apparently after English actress Jane Seymour. The phone was a huge hit for Ericsson and by 1995 it had sold over one million units. It was also notable for being the last phone made by Ericsson for use on analogue ETACS first generation networks. It is included in the London Science Museum collection and is now considered to be a design classic.
