This striking phone was released to celebrate the 30
th anniversary of the first KFC store opening in China. KFC is hugely popular in China and at the time the phone was launched the company had over 5000 locations, making it the largest restaurant chain in the country.
It was a limited edition bright red version of the Huawei Enjoy 7 which had an image of KFC’s iconic
Colonel Saunders logo etched onto its rear casing. The text is "你好 1987" which translates to "Hello 1987", the year the first KFC was opened in China.
The phone was a mid-tier Android phone with a 5.5-inch screen. It had a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone and a 32GB onboard memory capacity which could be expanded using a MicroSD card.
The phone also featured a KFC-branded music app which allowed users to create and share playlists when at a KFC restaurant. This capability is included in the promotion video below.
Huawei and KFC only produced 5,000 KFC phones and they cost 1,099 yuan (approximately $160 at the time).
