Features

The G810 was the successor to the Samsung G800 and featured the same five-megapixel camera with 3X optical zoom. It was widely considered to be Samsung’s answer to the highly successful Nokia N95. It had a 2.6-inch 256K-colour TFT LCD display with QVGA resolution as well as TV-out capability and a 3.5mm headset jack. The keypad on the phone was considered problematic, particularly the 5 and 8 keys which were housed within a metal frame. This made them difficult to press and limited the feedback provided to the user making it hard to dial numbers or send text messages. The camera was the stand-out feature on the phone and was complemented with a xenon flash. The rear face of the phone was a slick design with a sliding shutter cover that made it look like a dedicated digital camera. Samsung claimed the phone offered “professional photographic functions” such as face detection, image stabilisation, and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) support “for advanced photography.” The phone supported HSDPA as well as integrated GPS and Wi-Fi capability. Samsung worked with Bang & Olufsen to deliver ICEpower digital power amplifier technology on the G810.
