The GM 5 Plus was made General Mobile, which was a little-known Turkish manufacturer at the time. This was not the company’s first smartphone as it had already launched an Android One phone called the General Mobile 4G.
The GM 5 Plus was a high specification device which was compared to Google’s (Huawei)
Nexus 6P when it was announced. It was also notable for being the first Android One device to feature a USB-C connector. At launch it cost about $300.
By 2016 General Mobile, which was a top three supplier of mobile phone in Turkey, helped enable Turkey to become the fastest growing country for Android One devices in the world.
