The Lumia 822 was an exclusive Nokia device for US carrier Verizon Wireless. It was a mid-range product targeted at first-time smartphone buyers. It supported both Verizon's 4G LTE network technology and its CDMA 2000 1xEV-DO network.
The phone came with Nokia Drive+ which offered turn-by-turn navigation and was pre-loaded with US maps. It also had Nokia City Lens, which delivered an augmented reality experience to enhance Nokia Maps. It also included Nokia Transit showing public transport routes.
Additionally, the Nokia Music app enabled ad-free music streaming.
The phone was available in black, white (the device in the Mobile Phone Museum collection) and grey options and later was also offered as a red variant.
