The M6710 Beat Disc had a slide-out numeric keypad and a touch-sensitive disc that allowed the user to navigate through menus and control music functions in a similar way to the touch-wheel on an iPod. It was announced at the same time as the M7600 Beat DJ.
It supported quad-band GSM and EDGE, 3G HSDPA, integrated GPS and sported an AMOLED screen and a three-megapixel camera.
The Beat Disc used a Bang & Olufsen ICEpower amplifier and the audio technology company's branding was featured on the phone. This co-branding gave credibility to this music-centric device in a similar manner to Sony Ericsson's use of the Walkman brand and LG's use of the Dolby brand.
