Features

The NEC P4 was released in 1992. At the time it was considered a revolutionary device with its space-age-like design and compact profile. It was a popular, cutting edge analogue “1G” phone that worked on ETACS (Extended Total Access Communication System)  networks.  It’s size and weight meant it was marketed “as the first phone which you could forget was in your pocket”. It cost £700 ($880) at time of launch (equivqlent to £1,261 ($1,660) in 2021). It was an important product for the Vodafone network in the UK, who offered a Vodac-branded version of this model to its customers. Vodac was a subsidiary of Vodafone that supplied phones and sold airtime to customers.
