The PT-8 was a dedicated 'video call stand' designed exclusively for the Nokia 6630. This accessory allowed users to conduct face-to-face video calls. At the time, Nokia believed that users would prefer a "see what I see" rather than a "see me" experience with video calls.
Amazingly, the call stand had to be connected to mains power to be operated so it could only be used in a fixed location e.g. on a desk or table.
Although the 6630 was a 3G-capable phone, the data connection was primarily focused on browsing and other data applications.
It was not until the
Nokia 6680 that a forward-facing camera was added.
