Features

The Punkt MP02 was conceived as a mobile phone to deliver “a balanced approach to digital overload”. Swiss-based Punkt worked with acclaimed British designer Jasper Morrison to develop the phone, having worked with him previously on a cordless phone in January 2011. The name Punkt. was derived from the Geman word for ‘point’ or ‘full stop/period’. It was chosen to reflect the way the company’s products are built around simplicity, clarity and focus. Punkt’s founder, Petter Neby, believed that consumers were being overwhelmed with technology that was proving massively distracting to everyday life. He aspired to deliver a product that could help people “use technology to help adopt good habits for less distracted lives”. The Punkt MP02 was designed to be “a joy to use, with everything you need and nothing you don’t.” It was an upgrade to the Punkt MP01 which was a 2G-capable phone. The Punkt MP02 added 4G LTE capability and the ability to use the phone as an Internet hotspot. It also had an improved screen for easier daylight readability and enhanced security. Like its predecessor, the MP02 featured bespoke ringtones developed by the Norwegian sound artist Kjetil Røst Nilsen. At launch it cost €329 / $US349.
