R280LX

The Ericsson R280LX was a variant of the Ericsson R289 / R280 designed specifically for US carrier AT&T. The phone combined a tri-mode TDMA phone with a CDPD modem offering “always-on Wireless Internet”. It was described as “AT&T's first Web phone”. The phone could be used on AT&T's wireless CDPD network which at the time provided “the fastest web access” at 19.2Kbps. Other versions of this phone included the R278d, R280di and R289LX (for AT&T Wireless). This phone had the same industrial design as the Ericsson A1228c and also used the company’s “EZ-Read” user interface.
