I8910 Omina HD

When the i8910 Omnia HD was launched it was noted for its stunning 3.7-inch QHD AMOLED screen which offered the most impressive multimedia viewing experience on any mobile device to date. It was the first phone capable of recording 720p HD video on its 8-megapixel camera and had a variety of multimedia capabilities such as high-definition TV out, video editing and support for DivX and XviD codecs. Given that its predecessor, the i900 Omnia, was powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile it came as a surprise that Samsung had selected Symbian S60 5th edition for the device. At the time, it was felt that this reflected the shortcomings of the Windows Mobile platform as well as Samsung's pragmatic approach to software. This allowed it to select the most appropriate platform for the device it wanted to create, a luxury other manufacturers could not afford. The Omnia HD was seen as a further attempt by Samsung to displace Apple's iPhone. Its 3.7-inch display was considered to be pushing screen size to the limit. The only manufacturer going further was Toshiba, which had put a 4.1-inch display on its TG01.
