The Z800 was a variant of the previously announced
Sony Ericsson V800 which was an exclusive 3G phone for the Vodafone network. Sony Ericsson described it as “building on the huge success of the V800 for Vodafone, taking a proven concept to an even bigger audience”.
It was announced at the 3GSM World Congress event in Cannes, France and was positioned as “a serious productivity tool” that was designed to “appeal to heavy mobile users who appreciated efficiency and style”.
The clamshell phone had an integrated 1.3-megapixel “Motion Eye” rotating camera which was designed to allow users to not only take photos and videos but supported video calling with the moveable camera.
It was a Dual mode UMTS-GSM/GPRS phone with support for 900/1800/1900Mhz frequencies.
