The BIC phone was the result of a partnership between Orange and BIC (famous for making pens) to offer a shrink-wrap emergency phone that could be sold over the counter, in major supermarkets and local convenience stores (tobacco shops, newsstands etc.) and also at train stations and airports. It was manufactured by TCL / Alcatel and was a variant of the Alcatel OT-S210.
The phone came with 60 free minutes, a pre-charged battery and SIM included. It was a basic talk and text phone. The telephone number, which was included in the pack, was valid for at least 12 months from the time the phone is activated.
It came in two colours - citrus orange and lime green.
The phone retailed at €49 and came with €12 of prepaid credit.
