The J132 was unveiled at a launch event in Singapore and Sony Ericsson declared it was “designed with simplicity and value for money in mind.”  It was a basic talk and text phone with an FM radio with RDS support and a stereo hands-free kit. Owners could use the phone as a radio alarm clock allowing them to wake up to their favourite station It also featured a dust-resistant keypad designed to make it attractive to emerging markets. When it was announced Sony Ericsson stated that “everything about the J132 is uncomplicated. Its clear and bright screen coupled with its one-click shortcuts and easy-to-use navigation key means that you are ready to text, search for a number or access the FM radio without fuss.” The phone had an impressive talk time of up to 9 hours while offering 450 hours of standby time.
