The Cat S53 was Bullitt Group’s first 5G phone. The company was late to market with 5G technology but needed a product to meet market demand. Rather than being designed in-house, it was sourced from an original design manufacturer and adapted to be a Cat-branded device. Because of this, it had an unusual design compared to other Cat devices, notably its square camera enclosure and top-facing flashlight.
The design featured a large 6.5-inch HD+ screen protected by a thick recessed pane of toughened glass engineered to be highly scratch and impact-resistant.
The phone also had what was described as “an easy-to-grip design”, a lanyard attachment and a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device.
