The LG Vu (model number CU920) was the one of the two first phones to support AT&T’s Mobile TV service which was powered by Qualcomm’s MediaFLO technology. The service was able to broadcast more than 150 time-shifted programmes from a variety of companies including CBS, Comedy Central and ESPN. The other phone to support the service was the
Samsung Access.
The AT&T Mobile Music service was also supported by both phones, allowing users to download music from eMusic. It was also possible to sideload MP3 audio files.
The LG Vu, which was announced at the CTIA Wireless 2008 show, had a very similar design to the
LG Prada phone. When it was launched an LG executive described it as being a “strong statement about aesthetics and functionality thanks to its sleek, smooth exterior and its intuitive, three-inch touch screen technology”.
In addition to being a 3G-capable phone, the LG Vu included a two-megapixel auto focus camera. To enhance the AT&T Mobile TV experience, if had a built-in extendable TV antenna for increased reception.
